Tuesday June 15, 2021. Røst
It is raining when we wake up but the rain stops shortly
after. We do a long bike ride, but our ears and hands are cold, it's 6 ˚ and
windy. Jens wants to go to a seismic station but the guy in charge can't open
it, the key is rusty. We leave and go to see an old ruined church. Then, luck
getting things right, we walk past a cafe, go inside to warm up. The owner is
from India and came to Norway the same year as we did in 1982. We have coffee
and vaflers (soft waffles), he recommends the rhubarb jam he made himself. He
even took rhubarb plants to India. Light lunch at the boat and Jens returns to
the seismic station and I do blog. Then we leave by bike but this time well
equipped, with hat and gloves. We will see the airport, there is one flight a
day to Bodø and one return, and the cemetery. We go to the restaurant tonight
and have a good dinner with a magnificent view of the harbor, birds and
especially a ruined house. And when we get back to the boat, Jens is watching
the news on NRK and what does he see? An article on this house, presented as
the most photographed house in Lofoten. We return at 11 p.m. under a beautiful sun.
