Je téléphone tôt au bureau du port (il y a une permanence ouverte 24 h sur 24) et le gars confirme qu’il n’y a aucun service, le pauvre ce n’est pas de sa faute. Et ce n’est pas donné ici, nous payons 296 kr par nuit. (à peu près 29 €). Bon, je me lave les cheveux dans le bateau, on a de l’eau chaude pendant encore quelques heures : c’est l’eau chauffée par le moteur hier. Jens, pendant ce temps est allé porter notre linge à une laverie. La note va être salée c’est 200 kr (20 €) par kg et nous en avons au moins 10 kg … Nous petit-déjeunons et allons nous promener en ville. Il fait froid ! 9˚ ce matin et la température ne va pas dépasser 11 ˚ aujourd’hui et avec un vent frisquet. Nous allons au bureau du tourisme chercher un plan de la ville. Tromsø est bâtie sur une ile, mais s’est étendue à l’extérieur aussi. L’ile est reliée au continent par un pont et un tunnel. Nous marchons un peu en ville, mais il  n’y a pas grand-monde. Nous sommes contents de rentrer au chaud, nous avons le chauffage mis. Jens travaille à Seisan et je commence le blog. Nous déjeunons tôt et partons en vélo vers le sud de l’ile, au « Tromsø Museum » où est organisée une exposition sur les tremblements de terre. Jens a rendez-vous avec la jeune femme qui en est responsable. Il y retournera jeudi pour aider à réparer un rouleau enregistreur qui ne marche plus. Je reste un peu avec eux et rentre plus tôt pour aller chercher le linge. Il pleut, donc c’est l’équipement complet : ciré des pieds à la tête, bandeau plus capuche et gants. Jens me rattrape et nous allons ensemble, à deux on peut mieux supporter le choc de la facture. Nous avons 11 kg de linge donc ce sera 2200 kr (220 €). Pour faire laver du linge ! Mais il est bien plié … Nous allons prendre un cappuccino pour nous remettre.  Retour à Maja, nous refaisons les lits et rangeons notre linge, puis reste de l’après-midi studieuse. Nous allons diner à un café sur le quai, c’est bon, pas cher et la serveuse est sympathique. Je prends une soupe de poisson et Jens du bacalao.

I phone the port office early (there is a 24 hour hotline) and the guy confirms there is no service, poor man, it's not his fault. And it's not cheap here, we pay 296 kr per night. (around  29 €). Okay, I'm washing my hair in the boat, we have hot water for a few more hours: it's water heated by the engine yesterday. Jens, meanwhile went to take our laundry to a laundromat. The bill will be salty, it is 200 kr (20 €) per kg and we have at least 10 kg… We have breakfast and go for a walk in town. It's cold ! 9˚ this morning and the temperature will not exceed 11 ˚ today and with a chilly wind. We go to the tourist office to get a city map. Tromsø is built on an island, but has spread outside as well. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge and a tunnel. We walk around town a bit, but there aren't many people. We are happy to come back to Maja, we have the heating on. Jens works at Seisan and I'm starting the blog. We have an early lunch and cycle to the south of the island, to the "Tromsø Museum" where an exhibition on earthquakes is held. Jens has a meeting with the young woman who is responsible for it. He will come back on Thursday to help fix a broken recorder roll. I stay with them for a bit and leave them to pick up the laundry. It's raining, so it's the complete outfit: rain gear from head to toe, headband plus hood and gloves. Jens catches up with me and we go together, it’s better to be two to get the shock of the bill. We have 11 kg of laundry so it will be 2200 kr (220 €). To wash clothes! But it is well folded ... We take a cappuccino at a café to recover. Back to Maja, we make the beds again and put our laundry away, then we “work” rest of the afternoon. We're going to have dinner at a cafe on the quayside, it's good, cheap and the waitress is friendly. I have a fish soup and Jens some bacalao.

Toujours beaucoup de vent, mais nous allons aller sur des fjords plus protégés donc nous partons à 9 h 20 avec un foc réduit. Le vent a tourné un peu et nous l’avons plus de derrière. La première heure est un peu mouvementée et le fjord étant exactement dans l’axe du vent, les vagues nous suivent longtemps. Le vent est irrégulier, passant de 5 m/s (force 2) à 11 m/s (force 5 +), mais dans l’ensemble il baisse. Nous mangeons le lunch en route et juste après nous voyons un grand rassemblement de mouettes et, dans l’eau des dizaines de poissons qui sautent. Jens pêche et en 1 minute attrape un beau colin. Merci les mouettes. Nous nous arrêtons à Finnsnes pour prendre du diésel et repartons. Nous prenons ensuite un fjord étroit, Gisundet, où par chance le courant nous pousse. Je vois des macareux dans l’eau mais impossible de les prendre en photo, dès que Maja s’approche, ils plongent. En fin de soirée, nous approchons de Rystraumen, un endroit étroit où une ile bloque presque tout le fjord, le courant peut y être fort. Jens regarde les heures de marée et, manque de chance, nous allons avoir le courant contre nous et fort ou alors il faut attendre plusieurs heures. Cela ne me plait guère mais Jens pense que cela va aller. Avant d’y arriver nous étudions la vitesse des bateaux qui passent. Avec AIS, nous voyons la vitesses qu’ils ont avant ce passage et de combien ils ralentissent. Et pour les bateaux qui ont le courant avec, de combien ils accélèrent. Ce n’est pas très scientifique, mais cela donne une idée. On en conclut que le courant doit être à peu près de 4 nœuds. Maja, en accélérant bien a une vitesse de 6,5 nœuds. Jens appelle par radio un navire, Saphir, qui arrive derrière nous pour lui dire de passer, il va plus vite que nous. Mais il répond qu’il ne va pas passer, il attend qu’un bateau militaire passe. Bon, donc, nous allons y aller. L’eau est toute agitée, on dirait une marmite de sorcière. La vitesse baisse à 2,5 nœuds. Maja est parfois poussée à droite ou à gauche, mais Jens la remet dans le droit chemin. Une seule fois, elle pivote fort et j’ai peur, mais ça va. Et voilà que la « traffikksentralen » nous appelle : »Maja, Maja, pouvez-vous faire demi-tour pour laisser passer un navire de guerre français ( !) qui a des problèmes de moteur ». Moi, ma réaction, c’est de dire non, on est en plein dans un endroit au fort courant contre nous, on a assez de problème comme cela. Mais Jens est plus diplomatique et dit oui. Nous faisons demi-tour et allons un peu sur le côté de l’ile, et là il n’y a pas de courant. Nous faisons des ronds dans l’eau et voyons passer le bateau militaire français accompagné d’un remorqueur qui le suit de près. Nous laissons passer Saphir et nous retournons dans notre courant, mais on a l’impression que maintenant il est un peu moins fort. Où il y a le plus de mouvement de l’eau, notre vitesse est de 2,5 nœuds, mais plus loin où nous pensons que c’est fini, le courant en fait est plus fort et notre vitesse descend à 1,5 nœud. On n’avance pas vite, mais on avance. La « traffikksentralen » nous remercie. Jens avait fait cuire le poisson avec des pommes de terre, mais nous dinons tard, après toutes ces histoires de courant. Nous arrivons à Tromsø à 22 h, il pleuviote. Le gars du bateau voisin sort et nous échangeons quelques mots. Je demande où sont les toilettes et les douches et il répond qu’il n’y en a pas. J’ai du mal à le croire, une marina dans une grande ville sans toilettes ni douches ? On verra cela demain.

Still very windy, but we are going to go to more protected fjords so we leave at 9.20 am with a reduced jib. The wind has turned a bit and we have it more from the back. The first hour is a bit hectic and the fjord being exactly in the axis of the wind, the waves follow us for a long time. The wind is irregular, going from 5 m / s (force 2) to 11 m / s (force 5 +), but overall it is decreasing. We eat lunch on the way and just after we see a large gathering of seagulls and, in the water, dozens of jumping fish. Jens  fishes and in 1 minute catches a nice hake. Thank you seagulls. We stop in Finnsnes to take diesel and leave. We then take a narrow fjord, Gisundet, where luckily the current pushes us. I see puffins in the water but can't take a picture of them, as soon as Maja approaches, they dive. At the end of the evening, we approach Rystraumen, a narrow place where an island blocks almost the entire fjord, the current can be strong. Jens watches the tide times and, bad luck, we will have the current against us and strong or we have to wait several hours. I don't like it much but Jens thinks it will be okay. Before we get there we study the speed of passing boats. With AIS we see how fast they are before this pass and how much they are slowing down. And for boats that have current with it, by how much they accelerate. It's not very scientific, but it gives an idea. We conclude that the current must be about 4 knots. Maja, accelerating well, can get a speed of 6.5 knots. Jens calls by radio a ship, Saphir, which arrives behind us to tell him to pass, it goes faster than us. But he replies that he is not going to pass, he is waiting for a military boat to pass. Okay, so, let's go. The water is all rough, it looks like a witch's pot. The speed droppes to 2.5 knots. Maja is sometimes pushed to the right or to the left, but Jens puts her back on the right path. Once she swivels hard and I'm scared, but it's okay. And now the "traffikksentralen" calls us: "Maja, Maja, can you turn around to let a French warship (!) which has a motor problem pass ". My reaction is to say no, we're right in a place with a strong current against us, we have enough trouble like that. But Jens is more diplomatic and says yes. We turn around and go to the side of the island a bit, and there, there is no current. We make circles in the water and see the French military boat pass by, accompanied by a tug following it closely. We let Saphir pass and go back to our current, but now it feels like it's a little less strong. There, in the most agitated water, our speed is 2.5 knots, but further where we think it's over the current is actually stronger and our speed drops to 1.5 knots . We are not moving fast, but we are moving forward. The “traffikksentralen” thanks us. Jens had cooked fish with potatoes, but we're having dinner late after all the current stuff. We arrive in Tromsø at 10 p.m., it’s raining. The guy from the next boat comes out and we exchange a few words. I ask where the toilets and showers are and he says there aren't any. I can't believe it, a marina in a big city with no toilets or showers? We'll see that tomorrow.

Dimanche 27 juin 2021. Harstad (Hinnøy)-Engenes (Andørja).

Beaucoup de vent et gris. Nous partons à 9 h 30. Déjà à peine sortis du port, le vent augmente et les vagues aussi. Le vent est 10-12 m/s (force 5-6) avec des rafales à 14-15 m/s (force 7 +) et les vagues ne sont pas très grandes, environ 1 m, mais courtes et « méchantes », elles nous arrivent sur le côté, un peu de derrière. Nous allons avec le foc seulement et allons à 6 nœuds. Vous me connaissez : ce n’est pas du tout, mais pas du tout « my cup of tea ». Je vais dans mon trou et n’en mène pas large. Et on en a comme ça pour plusieurs heures, nous pensons aller à Finnsnes, plus au nord. Le temps ne passe pas vite. Vers midi, Jens me dit que nous passons près d’un port et si j’ai envie qu’on s’arrête. Quelle question! En fait c’est Engenes, au nord de l’ile d’Andørja (l’ile à côté de Rolla). Plus qu’un quart d’heure, je revis. Et nous arrivons à Engenes à midi et demi, sous un beau soleil. Quel soulagement. Et en plus, c’est très joli ici, baie verdoyante, port accueillant et belle église. Donc nous sommes sur Andørja, que nous ne pensions pas visiter du tout. Rolla (sa sœur siamoise) est connue pour ses cours d’eau et lacs mais Andørja est connue pour ses montagnes. Sur cette petite ile, vingt sommets dépassent 1 000 m. Ce n’est pas si haut au sud d’Europe mais ici au nord, cela correspond à des montagnes beaucoup plus hautes. Nous marchons un peu pour nous dégourdir les jambes et allons voir le large fjord que nous avons traversé, il est tout blanc de moutons. Lunch puis grand tour en vélo, nous allons tout au fond du fjord qui sépare presque l’ile en deux, 13 km dans chaque sens, 26 en tout. Cela, après les émotions du matin, fatigue sa grand-mère !

Sunday June 27, 2021. Harstad (Hinnøy) -Engenes (Andørja).

Lots of wind and gray. We leave at 9:30 am. Already barely out of the port, the wind increases and the waves too. The wind is 10-12 m / s (force 5-6) with gusts at 14-15 m / s (force 7 +) and the waves are not very big, around 1 m, but short and "nasty", they come to us from the side, a little from behind. We go with the jib only and go at 6 knots. You know me: it's not at all, but not at all my cup of tea. I go into my hole and don't like it And it will be like that for several hours, we are thinking of going to Finnsnes, further north. Time does not pass quickly. Around noon, Jens tells me that we are passing by a harbor and if I feel like stopping here. What a question! In fact it is Engenes, north of the island of Andørja (the island next to Rolla). A quarter of an hour, I live again. And we arrive in Engenes at half past twelve, under a beautiful sun. What a relief. And what's more, it's very pretty here, a green bay, a welcoming harbor and a beautiful church. So we are in Andørja, which we didn't expect to visit at all. Rolla (her Siamese sister) is known for its rivers and lakes, but Andørja is known for its mountains. On this small island, twenty peaks exceed 1000 m. It's not that high in southern Europe but here in the north it corresponds to much higher mountains. We walk a little to stretch our legs and go to see the large fjord that we have just crossed, it is all white with wave tops. Lunch then a long bike tour, we go to the bottom of the fjord which almost separates the island in two, 13 km in each direction, 26 in all. This, after the emotions of the morning, tires a  grandmother!
