Going North

Mercredi 9 juin 2021. Gjæslingan-Rørvik

Très beau et calme. Nous faisons une promenade, d’abord la digue à droite (vers les maisons) puis la digue à gauche (vers l’ile sans maisons). Ici, un séchoir à poisson est fait comme un long tunnel. Nous parlons avec un homme qui nous dit qu’avant, il y en avait bien plus. A la saison, il pouvait venir 5000 pêcheurs ici. Nous montons sur la colline pour avoir une belle vue. Un passage très étroit sort vers le nord et Jens dit que nous allons sortir par là … Nous avons marché 4 km en tout et on ne peut guère aller plus loin. Lunch au bateau et nous partons vers Rørvik. En route je téléphone à trois dentistes à Rørvik, mais aucun n’a de rendez-vous libre. J’ai mal à une dent et je voudrais bien aller chez le dentiste, moi qui n’aime guère cela d’habitude. Ils prendront contact si un rendez-vous est annulé. Nous passons sous le pont et arrivons à la marina située en ville. Nous étions venus à Rørvik en 2002 en route vers Lofoten et je me souviens que des mouettes avaient leurs nids sur une falaise au dessus de la marina (qui était plus petite). Mais la municipalité a mis un filet sur la falaise et il n’y a plus de nids de mouettes. Petite promenade, il fait un temps splendide. Rørvik semble active, on voit un mélange de vieilles maisons et de bâtiments neufs. Diner au soleil sur Maja, en shorts jusqu’à 22 h !

Very beautiful and calm. We take a walk, first the dike on the right (towards the houses) then the dike on the left (towards the island without houses). Here a construction to dry fish is made like a long tunnel. We speak with a man who tells us that before there were many more. In season, 5,000 fishermen could come here. We go up the hill to have a nice view. A very narrow passage goes out to the north and Jens says we're going to pass that way… We walked 4 km altogether and we can't go much further. Lunch at the boat and we leave for Rørvik. On the way I phone three dentists in Rørvik, but none have an open appointment. I have a bad tooth and I would like to go to the dentist, I usually don't like that. They will get in touch if an appointment is canceled. We pass under the bridge and arrive at the marina located in town. We had come to Rørvik in 2002 on our way to Lofoten and I remember seagulls having their nests on a cliff above the marina (which was smaller). But the municipality has put a net on the cliff and there are no more seagull nests. Little walk, the weather is splendid. Rørvik seems active, we see a mixture of old houses and new buildings. Dinner in the sun on Maja, in shorts until 10 p.m.!
