Grip-Veiholmen
Hier soir, Jens m’a installé un (une?) app sur mon téléphone pour trouver
le nom des fleurs, le même que Nina utilise. Le bonheur !
Nous partons à 9 h 30 sous un beau soleil, mer calme, pas de vent. La carte
suivante est pleine de gribouillis et je ne suis pas chaude pour les traverser.
Je préfèrerais faire un grand détour au large, mais Jens pense que c’est
intéressant et « challenging » de naviguer entre tous ces
rochers. On y va. C’est incroyable, on ne les voit pas du tout ces rochers, ils
sont juste sous l’eau, moins 80 cm, moins 1 m. La mer a l’air aimable, calme,
où on pourrait aller n’importe où. Mais en fait il faut louvoyer entre 3000
rochers. Il y a un chenal, assez étroit mais bien marqué entre ces milliers de
rochers. Comment ont-ils pu le faire ? Et c’est ancien. Nous avançons
assez lentement et utilisons le pilote automatique en mettant une destination
très proche, quelques centaines de mètres, puis une nouvelle. Avec le plotter
(navigateur ?), nous savons toujours où nous sommes. C’est très bien
marqué, phares, varder (cairns de pierre), perches dans l’eau. Cela se passe
bien, mais j’avoue que je suis soulagée quand on en sort, après environ une
heure. Et nous continuons vers Veiholmen, une ile habitée au loin en mer mais
reliée maintenant à la grande ile voisine de Smøla par des digues et un pont.
Nous y arrivons à 13 h 50. Nous nous mettons en long au ponton mais un homme
nous dit de déménager, bon. Promenade, il fait beau, beaucoup de monde. Même
genre d’ile que Grip, qui vivait de la pêche. De 1927 à 1936, des travaux
importants ont été financés par l’état pour agrandir et approfondir le port.
Ils avaient même construit une petite ligne de chemin de fer pour évacuer ce
qu’ils retiraient du fond du port. Nous restons longtemps dehors, nous baladons
partout et rentrons. Je fais le blog et Jens va faire des courses. Puis nous
nous offrons le restaurant. L’ambiance y est sympa, un groupe de femmes fêtent
un anniversaire, la nourriture est bonne, et la vue magnifique. Nous rentrons à
Maja contents de notre soirée.

Last night, Jens installed an App on my phone to find the names of the
flowers, the same one Nina uses. I am very happy!
We leave at 9:30 am under a beautiful sun, calm sea,
no wind. The next chart is full of scribbles and I'm not keen on going through
them. I'd rather take a big detour off the coast, but Jens thinks it's interesting
and challenging to navigate through all these rocks. Let's go. It's amazing,
you can't see these rocks at all, they're just underwater, minus 80 cm, minus
1m. The sea looks nice, calm, where you could go anywhere. But in fact you have
to navigate between 3000 rocks. There is a channel, quite narrow but well
marked between these thousands of rocks. How could they do it? And it's old. We
go quite slowly and use the autopilot putting a very close waypoint, a few
hundred meters, then a new one. With the plotter, we always know where we are.
It's very well marked, headlights, varder (stone cairns), poles in the water.
It’s going well, but I have to admit that I’m relieved when we comes out after
about an hour. And we continue to Veiholmen, an island inhabited in the
distance at sea but now connected to the neighboring large island of Smøla by
dikes and a bridge. We get there at 1:50 pm We pull alongside the pontoon but a
man tells us to move, we can’t stay here, OK. Walk, the weather is nice, a lot
of people. Same kind of island as Grip, who made a living from fishing. From
1927 to 1936, major works were financed by the state to enlarge and deepen the
port. They had even built a small railway line to evacuate what they removed
from the bottom of the harbor. We stay outside for a long time, we walk
everywhere and go home. I do the blog and Jens goes shopping. Then we treat
ourselves to the restaurant. The atmosphere is nice, a group of women are
celebrating a birthday, the food is good, and the view is wonderful. We return
to Maja happy with our evening.
