Nous partons à 10h par temps calme et gris. Notre plan était d’aller à Henningsvær aujourd’hui, au sud de Lofoten et de traverser Vestfjorden, le grand fjord entre Lofoten et le continent demain. Mais la météo en décide autrement, il va souffler un fort vent demain et ce n’est pas le temps idéal pour aller sur ce fjord ouvert vers la mer, et rester deux jours à Henningsvær, ile très touristique ne nous tente pas. Donc nous passons devant cette ile et commençons à traverser Vestfjorden. Le temps calme devient beaucoup moins calme et Maja danse pas mal. Les vagues du nord-est nous arrivent sur le côté et nous roulons. Les vagues ne sont pas grandes mais rapprochées et « méchantes ». La meilleure place sur le bateau quand ça bouge est mon trou, donc j’y vais. Jens met le foc et barre à la main, cela aide. Nous allons comme cela deux heures puis cela se calme un peu et nous changeons, Jens va faire une sieste dans mon trou et je suis en haut. Nous avions pensé aller assez loin vers le sud, à une ile en mer, bien à l’ouest de Bodø mais là encore changement de plan. Si nous y allons, nous arriverons en fin de soirée et un coup de vent du sud-ouest est prévu ce soir. Nous allons donc au plus court vers le continent, entrons entre des iles et allons à Engeløy, là un petit port a quelques places pour les visiteurs. Nous y arrivons à 18 h et nous mettons en bout de ponton. Engeløy est une assez grande ile qui, en fait, n’a pas de port parce que ce n’est pas assez profond et le port est sur une petite ile, Røssøy, reliée par une digue à Engeløy. Nous sommes surpris de voir un grand terrain de camping-cars pleins, des imitations « rorbuer » (petites maisons de pêcheurs) et pleins de voitures. Mini-promenade, il commence à pleuvoir, et diner. A 21 h 30, le coup de vent arrive subitement rapidement c’est 12 m/s (force 6), on est mieux au port qu’en mer.

We leave at 10 am in calm and grey weather. Our plan
was to go to Henningsvær today, south of Lofoten and cross Vestfjorden, the
great fjord between Lofoten and the mainland tomorrow. But the weather decides
otherwise, it will blow a strong wind tomorrow and it is not the ideal time to
go on this fjord open to the sea, and staying two days in Henningsvær, a very
touristy island, does not tempt us. So we pass this island and start crossing
Vestfjorden. The calm weather becomes much less calm and Maja is dancing a lot.
The waves from the northeast come to the side and we roll. The waves are not
big but close together and "nasty". The best place on the boat when
things move is my hole, so I go there and lie down. Jens puts the jib and
steers by hand, that helps. We go like this for two hours then it calms down a
bit and we change, Jens is going to take a nap in my hole and I'm upstairs. We
had thought of going quite far south, to an island in the sea, well west of
Bodø, but again there was a change of plan. If we go, we will arrive in the
late evening and a southwesterly gale is expected this evening. So we go as
short as possible towards the mainland, enter between islands and go to
Engeløy, there a small port has a few places for visitors. We arrive there at 6
p.m. and we dock at the end of the pontoon. Engeløy is a fairly large island
which, in fact, does not have a port because it is not deep enough and the port
is on a small island, Røssøy, connected by a dike to Engeløy. We are surprised
to see a large lot full of camping-cars, imitation "rorbuer" (small
fishermen's houses) and many cars. Mini-walk, it starts to rain, and dinner. At
9:30 p.m., the gale suddenly arrives with wind of 12 m / s (force 6), we are
better in the harbor than at sea.
