Jens savait qu’il y avait une station sismique sur Engeløy. Il téléphone à
Berit à l’université et elle lui précise où elle est et le nom du propriétaire du
terrain. Jens téléphone au gars et pas de problème, on peut venir. Il n’y a
plus qu’à pédaler 15 km, ce que nous faisons, nous partons à 9 h 40. Il fait
gris mais il ne pleut pas et la route est plate. Engeløy a une grande montagne
au centre et une plaine côtière tout autour qui est cultivée, surtout pour l’élevage
et les pommes de terre. J’ai interdiction absolue de m’arrêter pour faire des
photos de fleurs, sinon nous arriverons trop tard chez Kjell-Are et Gry, le
couple que nous allons voir. Mais en contrepartie, je pourrai m’arrêter tant que
je veux en rentrant. OK. Jolie promenade et nous arrivons chez eux. Le problème
c’est qu’ils viennent d’emménager, le 1 er juillet, il y a 12 jours. Ils savent
qu’ils ont une station sismique sur leur terrain mais pas exactement où.. Ils
sont en pleine installation mais nous reçoivent gentiment. Jens retéléphone à Berit
et par chance elle se rappelle où est la station. Jens la trouve (bien plus
rapidement qu’à Gravdal le 19 juin), ici aussi c’est une caisse enterrée. Tout est
en ordre et bien sec. Kjell-Are et Gry nous invite à boire un café, très sympa
et Jens, referme le couvercle sur la caisse. Puis, aidé de Kjell-Are met un
nouveau plastique (par chance ils ont plein de grands sacs en plastique utilisés
pour leur déménagement) et ils recouvrent le tout de mottes de terre. Nous leur
souhaitons bonne chance dans leur nouvelle maison et partons. Et là, je m’arrête,
je m’arrête … Nous allons voir un ancien presbytère où le prêtre, vers 1880, était
un agronome averti. Nous faisons quelques courses à la boutique locale et
rentrons à Maja à 15 h, contents et affamés, le lunch parait bon quand on a
faim. Et nous partons vers Nordskot, vers le sud, un saut de puce de 6 milles
nautiques. En route nous voyons le « Christian Radich », un vieux trois-mâts
norvégien. Laila et Thorsten étaient allés à Nordskot et avaient bien aimé. Nous y
arrivons à 17 h 50. Petite promenade avant diner, nombreux jolis jardins fleuris
et belle baie avec plage. Nous ne comprenons
pourquoi il y a une digue au fond de la baie. Jens demande à un gars et il
explique que toute l’eau douce qui descend de la montagne gèle en hiver et que
cette mini-banquise pouvait abimer les bateaux de pêche, cette digue a été
construite pour retenir la glace. Mais il nous dit aussi que quelques années
après la construction de la digue (environ en 1990) il n’y avait plus de
bateaux de pêche. Diner dehors mais en kjeledress et visite après diner d’un
homme de Bergen. Il navigue avec sa femme et leurs deux filles (10 et 7 ans) et
vont vers le nord. Il vient visiter Maja et la trouve « koselig »
(confortable, sympa).

Jens knew there was a seismic station on Engeløy. He
phones Berit at the university and she tells him where it is and the name of
the landowner. Jens calls the guy and no problem, we can come. We just have to
pedal 15 km, which we do, we leave at 9.40 am. It is grey but it is not raining
and the road is flat. Engeløy has a large mountain in the center and a coastal
plain all around which is cultivated, mainly for livestock and potatoes. I have
an absolute ban on stopping to take pictures of flowers, otherwise we'll be too
late at Kjell-Are and Gry, the couple we're going to see. But in return, I can
stop as many times as I want on the way home. OK. Nice ride and we arrive at
their place. The problem is, they just moved in on July 1, 12 days ago. They
know they have a seismic station on their land but not exactly where. They are
in the process of setting up but welcome us kindly. Jens calls Berit again and
luckily she remembers where the station is. Jens finds it (much faster than in
Gravdal on June 19), here too it's a buried crate. Everything is in order and
very dry. Kjell-Are and Gry invite us for a coffee, very nice and Jens, closes
the lid on the box. Then, with the help of Kjell-Are, puts a new plastic
(luckily they have lots of large plastic bags used for their move) and they
cover it with clods of earth. We wish them good luck in their new home and
leave. And there I stop, I stop ... We are going to see an old rectory where
the priest, around 1880, was an experienced agronomist. We do some shopping at
the local store and return to Maja at 3 p.m., happy and hungry, lunch seems
good when we are hungry. And we head south towards Nordskot, a 6 nautical mile jump.
En route, we see the "Christian Radich", an old Norwegian
three-masted ship. Laila and Thorsten had been to Nordskot and had liked it. We
arrive there at 5:50 pm. A short walk before dinner, many pretty gardens with
flowers and a beautiful bay with a beach. We don’t understand why there is a
dike at the bottom of the bay. Jens asks a guy and he explains that all the
fresh water that comes down the mountain freezes in winter and that this mini pack
ice could damage fishing boats, this dike was built to hold back the ice. But
he also tells us that a few years after the dike was built (around 1990) there
were no more fishing boats here. Dinner outside but in a kjeledress and visit
after dinner by a man from Bergen. He sails with his wife and their two
daughters (10 and 7 years old) and goes north. He comes to visit Maja and finds
her "koselig" (comfortable, nice).
